Teboho Masakala The best in the tourism and hospitality sector in the Free State were awarded during the provincial leg of the 2019 Lilizela Tourism Awards which were held on 26 September at Imvelo Safari Lodge in Bloemfontein. In his keynote address, the MEC for DESTEA (responsible for tourism in  Free State) Makalo Mohale said tourism contributes meaningfully to the economy of the province and needs to be given the attention it deserves. He pointed out that those in the sector need to be acknowledged and recognised. “As government, in order to improve product offering and stakeholder engagement in the province, we have called all role players to a tourism round table colloquium. Such people are chefs who work hard to dish mouth watering food that leaves us wanting more however not often are they recognised or acknowledged. However they take time preparing nice meals and creating different types of dishes to accommodate all people. Without Chefs the tourism and hospitality sector will suffer tremendously as they contribute a lot.
