It’s your Country, enjoy it!

South Africa is endowed with beautiful landscapes,
beaches, mountains and wildlife and has a lot to offer. South Africa's rich
history also attracts tourists to our shores, however it is important that
South African citizens take a "shot left" and tour their own
country.
The “Its your Country, Enjoy it” campaign by SA
Tourism is aimed at encouraging South African’s to be tourists in their own
provinces, cities and country and to tour and experience the hidden treasures
South Africa has to offer.
SA Tourism partnered with Metro FM on their
'Heatwaves' national music shows to engage with those attending the show
and give them first hand info about South Africa. The set up of stalls makes it
easy for people to get first hand info about South Africa in general as well
as its tourism attractions, especially focusing on so-called small places.
SA Tourism took members of both the Free State and
Johannesburg media on an official media tour to experience the beauty that is
South Africa, from 16-17 November. The trip saw a “shot left” taken to Gauteng,
North West and Bloemfontein where the activation stalls were set up during the
Metro FM Heat Wave Bloemfontein edition on 17 November 2019.
The first stop was in Midvaal (Gauteng) at Karma
Ranch where tubing (floating on top of an air filled tube while using hands to
paddle and move forward and backward in the water) and tricycle activities
were enjoyed. The second and third stop was the North West and Free State
where the rich history of Parys, Bloemfontein and Vredefort Dome (North West)
was experienced.
According
to Sherry Williams, the Marketing and Communication Officer at SA Tourism,
"It is important that South African’s take advantage of the rich history
in their own backyard and enjoy their country in the same way international
tourists do. Not only will they be domestic tourists but they will also grasp
the rich history, provinces and places that SA possesses, which they can
pass to upcoming generations.
